These days, I mainly paint with acrylics. I'm obsessed with taking imaginative random spontaneity and seasoning it with pinches of chaos. I create art in the moment, building off of hand drawn lines and bold brush strokes which then provide multiple outcomes. It's not unusual for me to get submerged in my paintings with detailed colorful patterns, organic shapes and even cartoonish figures. My paintings and drawings pull from my epics of childhood, from my songs of adulthood, intermixed with my faith in God, my love of history and what's happening in our world today. My goal: to persistently spark and expand the boundaries of our imaginations, where amplified through the myriad interpretations that ensues, chaos begets clarity, wonder and beauty abound stoking a joyous viewing experience in both young and old alike.
A huge Welcome and Thank You for being here right now! My name is Burritt E. Benson III, aka "Bucky". I'm an artist currently living and painting in Southeastern North Carolina in my hometown of Lumberton.
I graduated from UNC Wilmington with a BS degree in Marketing in 1992. Afterwards, I joined my father's successful construction company. A year later, I married my college sweetie, Sara, and God blessed us with two wonderful boys along the way. Skipping to 2004, I stepped down from President of my father's company (with his blessing), and took on the role of artist in my walled-in garage at home. I've kept busy painting ever since up until the Covid pandemic hit and I had to switch gears and help take care of my folks. I'm back painting during the day now with a renewed vigor! I'm very thankful and grateful to all the people and artists that have helped me on this incredible journey. I love you!! I'm thankful to God for all He has done and continues to do in my life. Like my art, I'm a work in progress. I'm glad you are here and I thank you for checking out my artworks. I hope you like my art!!
